Is market survey necessary?

It seems that some mongolian companies think that market survey, consumer survey, product survey and competitors' survey etc. are useless rubbish. It occurs mostly in the companies where the top managers cannot do any activities seeing the survey result done by the teams composed of unskillful people. Directors who do not have economical education plus students who used te cheat at university and cannot work in real business world bring this negative result.
I always say that business is a war.
Before starting a war, what do the competitors do? They spy each other. In other words, they start the battle after considering the questions like who has which disadvantages, How to use that disadvantage, what disadvantages we have, how to protect this demerit, which information will bring us victory, when we should do it, how much expense would be spent to do this, to what level we should do it, when to increase the intensity of the battle and when to slow it down and how long should be spent to achieve how much.
But if you participate in a war without survey (without spying activities) at first, the winner is definite (not you, of course). Similarly, in the world of business, winning or losing (or just going in and out there for some time without achieving the main goal) depends on how well you plan. The thing that answers to this question is market survey. So, learn to do market survey which takes you to the victory very well and if you can, bring a victory to your side and if cannot, provide your commanders with this type of information.
And you guys, get out of your castles and study your environment! If you're a student studing in this branch, this post is not a useless thing for you.
